Basketball Blitz is one of our favorite games! Basketball Blitz is a fast-paced, exciting game that works on decoding words with the common suffix -ed. All 3 sounds of -ed are represented in the word cards, and you can add your own words from any phonics or vocabulary curriculum that works on common suffixes. If you have a kid who loves sports, this will immediately intrigue them. You will get them to practice reading (and spelling) words with the -ed suffix! 33 pages total.
The revised file now includes: a Teacher Instruction Page, an Anchor Chart with the rules for decoding words with the -ed suffix, the full-color Folder Game with component parts, Word Cards for the game that can also be used for more games, 12 Spelling Worksheets, and 4 Sorting Worksheets!
The teacher instruction page give you lots of ideas for alternative uses of this file and how to use the spelling worksheets as task cards for multisensory spelling activities. This game has a little more complicated rules than many of our games, but it is worth the effort to teach older students how to play. By doing so, you will be working on following sequential directions and memory skills. If you are an Orton-Gillingham tutor, you will love our games!
