St. Valentine was martyred on February 14, 278 AD. You can also discuss how Valentine’s Day has been celebrated throughout different cultures and time periods, shedding light on various customs and traditions.

Older kids enjoy heat embossing shiny lines onto their cards using a VersaMark ink pad or embossing pen, very fine embossing powder, and an embossing heat gun. such as colored paper, paper doilies, markers, stickers, and glitter for younger kids.
I can hear my husband right now with complete sarcasm, “Ahhh! Glitter! My “favorite” art supply!” Tip for glitter. Provide a 9×13 or larger baking pan. Put school glue and glitter in a shakable bottle right next to the pan. Place the picture in the pan. Have your child drizzle small dots or thin lines of glue. If your child has a heavy hand, assist with hand-over-hand or you drizzle glue with your child giving directions. Then have your child shake on the glitter. It’s ok if it accidentally dumps all over – in the pan. Once YOU shake off the picture over the pan, you can pour the glitter back into the bottle using a funnel if necessary. No mess!
Encourage your children to brainstorm unique Valentine’s crafts designs by layering papers and using texture with ribbons and embellishments. Have your kids write haiku poems or silly messages with puns for each recipient.
