Headshot of Sue Hegg

Hi, I'm Sue Hegg!

unique-learners-green-divider-blog

I am a special needs learning specialist with over 30 years of experience as a classroom teacher, special education teacher, academic therapist, speaker, and consultant. My B.A. included double majors in Elementary Education and Speech-Communication and double minors in Bible and Music. I have an M.Ed. in Special Education and an M.S. in General Psychology with an emphasis on Integrating Technology, Learning, and Psychology. I have completed PhD coursework and several independent studies on homeschooling special needs and parenting.

I am also a veteran homeschool mom of 20+ years. I have three adult children we homeschooled all the way through, each with some type of specialized learning need, including dyslexia, anxiety, and academically giftedness. Each of our three bio kids has taken a unique path into adulthood, from travel adventure to college to the work world. We also have an amazing adopted guy who has multiple special needs and has moved between homeschool and special ed in public school. I understand unique learners from both parents and home educators perspectives.

Throughout my career I have worked primarily with students with dyslexia, ADHD, autism, anxiety issues, and prenatal exposure to alcohol/substances. I hold a current Arizona teacher’s license with level one fingerprint clearance. I often work with AZ ESA students! I am so excited to be transitioning from working directly with students to training homeschool moms, providing curriculum materials, and passing along the academic knowledge and practical skills that truly work for kids with special needs! I would love to help you create your own unique and amazing homeschool!
